REMIX and the Natural History Consortium will be hosting a music for film discussion workshop, a mix of panel style debate about techniques, methodology and inspiration, and a more interactive music workshop.
The panelists will include.
Alex Stoloff With credits too numerous to mention, but including work for the BBC's Flagship natural history program, Wildlife On One, as well as several films and shorts. He largely composes and producers his music using hardware samplers, sequencers, effects units, analog and digital synthesisers, using software such as Acid, Cubase, Cool Edit Pro, Dart, Vegas, Pro Tools, Logic Audio, Reason, Fruity Loops, VST's, DirectX plugins and SoundForge for PC based music production. As a musician he's a festival veteran who has also seen tours of Russia, Japan and France.
Rozi Plain A film-maker as well as a musician, her music videos for bands such as The Mighty Roars and Rose Kemp have been played all across the world, including on such major channels as MTV2. Working largely in stop-motion animation, Rozi also writes her own songs and scores using a multitude of instruments and found sounds to fit her animations. As a songwriter her stature is growing with the release of her debut album due on Fence Records.
Joe Volk The singer and guitarist was commissioned over the summer to write some original pieces of music for a documentary entitled 'Death in the Deep Freeze : Cryogenic Suspension', and he has also written a 13 minute score for a short film by Jean Painlevé entitled 'Jellyfish'. He's better known for his musical work under his own name (his debut album was released by Geoff Barrow's Invada label) and with the bands Gonga and Crippled Black Phoenix (also both on Invada) which has served to attract the attention of film-makers looking for something a little different.
Entry is free for those aged under 18 - no need to book a place - just turn up. |
