Sonic Graffiti Has Arrived

If you’re walking past Colston Hall in the next couple of weeks make sure you leave yourself a bit of extra time to visit the interactive sound installation Sonic Graffiti, which is situated on the Colston Hall hoardings around the building site.

Sonic Graffiti has been produced by young people working with Remix, Bristol's Youth Music Action Zone. The multi-layered sound wall is covered in buttons and knobs to twist and turn and experiment with to create your very own piece of musical improvisation.  Ten young people from all over Bristol spent 6 weeks building the wall and learning about music technology, editing and producing.  The young people worked with local installation artists Push Me Buttons and Twiddle Me Knobs to design and build this multi-layered sonic wall.    Councillor Rosalie Walker, who officially opened the project last week, said “The Colston Hall foyer project is one of the city’s flagship developments - and I think it is a brilliant idea to have ‘interactive’ hoardings while the work is going on.

Regular workshops in the Unicorns

Remix is now running a whole host of workshops from the Unicorns Studios which are underneath Colston Hall.

Mondays see Phil King running a weekly singing session that is for anyone who has an interest in singing from 6-8pm. Tuesday and Saturdays are songwriting sessions. 6-8pm on a Tuesday, 10-12pm on a Saturday.

If you'd like to come along to any of these sessions they are free and open to anyone under 19 who is interested in music.
